Building work starting on new Philippines toll road
Building work is starting shortly on a new toll road connection intended to boost transport and cut congestion in and around Manila in the Philippines. Manila is know for its heavy traffic congestion at peak periods and the 8km route will provide a new connection between the city’s north and south. This will be the second elevated expressway route.
Slovakia road repairs – tender to reopen

Colombian connection construction contract continuing
Work is continuing in Colombia on the Bucaramanga-Yondo 4G road project. The route includes the construction of a new 600m bridge, which is around half complete. When it opens, the Rio Sucio Bridge will improve connections between the La Pax and La Sorda tunnels. In all the work for the Bucaramanga-Yondo 4G road project is around 40% complete, compared with 28% in August 2019.
Funding package secured for Bosnia highway work
Funding has been secured to pay for key highway projects planned for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Federal Bosnia and Herzegovina Government is planning to use just over €138 million of its budget to build new highway trunk road sections. These projects include new trunk roads between Lasva and Nvic as well as Praca and Gorazde, the ring road for Mostar and the Hranjen Tunnel.

Paraguay road project tender opening
The tender process is opening in Paraguay for a new stretch of the 557km Transchaco road. The work for this section is expected to cost US$101.3 million. The firms winning the deals for the Transchaco road sections will have to maintain these stretches of the route for four years under the terms of each agreement. Israel road tender opening
The tender process is opening in Israel for work to widen the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv. The project involves widening the route by adding a lane in either direction. Two new bridges will also be built as part of the project, which is expected to be worth some US$124 million. The first phase of the widening work to the Ayalon Highway is already underway, having commenced in July 2019 and construction of the second phase will start shortly. Cameroon road construction project
The plan for a major new road project has been agreed in Cameroon. The 357km Ring Road project will connect Cameroon with neighbouring Nigeria. Part of the funding for the work is being provided in the shape of a loan worth US$20.7 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB). In all the project is costing $251.5 million. Work underway for new road tunnel in Northern Poland
Preparation work is now starting on a new tunnel project to connect Uznam Island with Wolin Island in Northern Poland. Clearance work is underway at present with the actual construction activity due to start in January 2020. Costing €184 million, the work involves building a 3.4km unnel, which is due for completion by September 2022. Nairobi expressway construction now underway
Construction work has now commenced on the new expressway route through Kenya’s congested capital, Nairobi. Czech Republic: permit for D11 section moving ahead
The Czech highway authority has applied for permits to start work on a 41km stretch of the D11 motorway, from Prague to the border with Poland at a cost of around €853 million.
Last year a consortium comprising contractors Eurovia, Metrostav and Swietelsky began work on a stretch of the D11 connecting Hradec Kralove and Smirice in the north of the country with completion of the €100.5 million project in 2022.

Shell bitumen agrees supply deal for Indian market
Shell Bitumen has signed a partnership arrangement for the Indian market with Tiki Tar Industries. This will allow the firm sell bitumen to customers in the road surfacing sector, including national and state highways, airport runways and village roads in India. Tiki Tar and Shell India is a 50:50 incorporated joint venture between Shell and Tiki Tar Industries,.
