Three more contracts are due to be awarded for Malaysia’s important Pan Borneo highway project. These will be announced in the first quarter of 2020 and will be worth a total of US$223 million. The contracts are for Packages 28, 29 and 30 and will be for work to some 60km of the route. So far only 12 of the 35 work packages for the 706km Pan Borneo Highway have been awarded, and one of these was later terminated. The aim is for the remaining packages to be put to tender between 2021 and 2025. Construction work is behind schedule however, with around 21% so far having been completed compared with the target of around 44% by this time.
