SDS develops SuDS material to tackle highway metals pollution
SDS says that its engineered treatment media Aqua-Xchange can be used in regulatory-compliant sustainable drainage systems - SuDS.
Delivered to site in lightweight 1m³ bags, it can be deployed as stormwater treatment in highways drainage, as well as on other higher risk locations such as retail car parks, freight and logistics hubs.
SDS claims that independent tests have shown its Aqua-Xchange removes 99% of dissolved copper and zinc, toxic metals identified by Highways England as priority pollutants
Maximum performance from Emulbitume’s mini cold mix plant
says that says that it has delivered and set up its first mini cold mix unit in Algeria.
The fully automatic machine is a complete production system including production of cold mix and packing system for bags and buckets. A PLC – programmable logic controller - monitors the system and makes decisions based upon a custom programme to control output.

Aggregate Industries KS12-16 ExtendaChip Spreader chips away
Aggregate Industries says that its new KS12-16 ExtendaChip Spreader will “redefine health and safety standards” across the highways sector.
The KS12-16 ExtendaChip Spreader has been developed in conjunction with engineering firm and equipment supplier Pavemac, based in England.
Aggregates Industries claims that it is “the first machine of its kind” to be extendable, with a width range between 3.6-4.9m. This removes the need for multiple chippers on site and so speeds chip spreading operations.

Road repairs take to the air
Automated road repairs using 3D printing could save money and reduce disruption, reports Kristina Smith
It’s the middle of the night and in the street below a team is busy carrying out repairs to the road surface. But there isn’t a human in sight.
A road-repair drone has landed at the site of a crack and a 3D asphalt printer is now busy filling in that crack. A group of traffic cone drones have positioned themselves around the repair location to protect the repair drone and divert traffic around it.
