Bidding will close shortly for El Salvador’s proposed Los Chorros road project. Funding is expected to be provided jointly by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and South Korea. Construction work for the project meanwhile is expected to cost in the region of US$300 million.
The project will provide improvement work for stretches of the Pan American Highway, boosting capacity and safety for drivers. One stretch of the highway will be widened so that it features four lanes in either direction. Upgrade work will be carried out to a stretch of the route connecting with the interchange for Colón. And a new viaduct will be built, also featuring four lanes in either direction, making it the biggest and most complex bridge section ever built in El Salvador.
