Doka Group expands with Australian acquisition
The Doka Group continues to expand its operations with the acquisition of an Australian company. Called Lubeca, this firm was the former formwork technology department of its previous owner, the Australian contractor Grocon. Doka acquired the formwork patent for the Lubeca Jumpform system, along with employees and a project portfolio from Grocon. India investing in major highway development programme
A major programme of highway investment is being planned in India. The country's Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved US$2.34 billion of works project to widen 676km of national highways (NHs) in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Kerala, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. India’s highway projects benefiting from World Bank funding
A loan worth US$500 million from the World Bank's International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will help improve road connections in India. The funding will be directed towards India's National Highways Inter-connectivity Improvement Project (NHIIP), a programme of works aimed at improving routes in some rural or remote areas of the country. Hitex speeds surface repairs
Hitex surfacings have been developed for export markets and have approval for use in different territories. The firm is now exporting the products for use in South East Asia and Latin America and has contracts to use the materials for repairs on a busy highway in India.

New US$1.33bn road route planned for Maharashtra, west India
The state government of Maharashtra in west India is planning to build a 35km road between Kandivli and Nariman Point in the state's western suburban region. The US$1.33 billion (INR 80 billion) road is planned to have 18 access points and the state government might appoint BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) or Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to implement the project on a joint venture basis.
Odisha state of India’s huge national highways upgrade
The Indian state of Odisha is to see a total of 2,370km of its national highways (NH) upgraded to four and six-lanes under Phases I to V of the National Highway Development Project. Phase-I of the project has already been completed, involving the four-laning of 520km of NH. Around 490km (Phase II) are still under construction for US$ 770.77 million (INR 45.7 billion), and are expected to be completed by March 2015. India highways’ chiefs to compile report for key 138km corridor project
India’s highways department is preparing a detailed project report for the country’s 138km US$2.29 billion corridor project. The corridor will connect Pooncheri with Kattupalli and Ennore ports, skirting Chennai to facilitate easy movement of container traffic. It wwill see over 900 hectares of land being acquired, and will involve widening of existing roads, flyovers, over-bridges, bridges and interchanges.

JCB reports strong performance despite tough market
UK equipment manufacturer JCB is bullish and reports strong sales, despite difficult trading conditions. The company claims that its sales for 2013 are the third highest it has achieved, since the firm was established 68 years ago. Earnings stood at €383.7 million on an EBITDA basis, compared with €447.4 million for 2012. Four-lane India highway project secured by IRB Infrastructure
The National Highways Authority of India has awarded a US$529.67 million (INR 32 billion) Yedeshi-Aurangabad NH21 four-lane highway project in India to India-based IRB Infrastructure Developers (IRB Infrastructure). With a concession period of 26 years, the project is scheduled for completion in 910 days.
