Pump and dewatering specialist Xylem has developed its remote control and monitoring system, Godwin Field Smart Technology (FST), for use by contractors. Showcased at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, the technology can reduce the resource needed to operate and maintain pumps and provide a record of the pump’s operation.

Construction is the third highest sector for producing greenhouse gas emissions, behind the oil and gas sector and chemicals. Construction accounts for 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions – and around 76% of these come from fossil fuel combustion.

Having re-integrated its excavator and crawler crane businesses in the US, Kobelco is planning to ramp up production here, president and CEO Kazuhide Narake told a press conference at CONEXPO/CON-AGG. “We built our factory in Spartanburg and had our opening ceremony in July 2016,” Narake began.

Compaction specialist Hamm has launched a 10 tonne H series soil compactor and updated its 12 and 14 tonne models with new engines and operating systems. The H10i compactor is powered by an 85kW diesel engine and can be specified with smooth or padfoot drums. All H series machines come with three-point pivot articulation, to maximise drive on rough ground and feature the company’s Easy Drive operating concept, with ergonomic work stations and improved visibility.

Doka has been highlighting its new Framax Xlife stripping corner at this year’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas. All the work of retracting or expanding formwork can be done fast and safely by one worker at the top of the core because of the Framax Xlife’s built-in ratchet.

Kleemann is now introducing its latest crushing technology to the North American market at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017. The Mobicone MCO 11i is new to the US market and features the firm’s latest control technology for efficient operations. The Mobicone Pro is a redesign of the previous generation machine and now benefits from a new feeder design.

John Deere Power Systems took the covers off an all-new 13.6litre engine at CONEXPO-CON/AGG. Due to go into production in 2020, the Stage V compliant power unit will replace the current 13.5litre design, delivering more power in a lighter engine and with better packaging.

LeeBoy is introducing a line-up of four new asphalt pavers that all benefit from Tier 4 Final diesels at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017. Performance has been upgraded across the board, with the new generation Kubota engines offering increased power, lower emissions and reduced fuel consumption.
