Studies are being planned by the Moroccan Government for a new motorway that will speed transport between Fes and Marrakech. The alignment will also link Beni Mellal and Khénifra. A budget for the project has yet to be announced. At the moment, it takes around five hours and 30 minutes to travel the 531km between the two cities. The new route will reduce the distance and the journey time however.

However, changes to the plans for the motorway planned to link Beni Mellal, Fez and Meknes mean that the consultation for the project is being cancelled by the Ministry of Equipment.

In addition, US$40 million is being budgeted for rural road development as well as other infrastructure works in the Casablanca-Settat area. This is being planned by the Regional Agency for the Execution of Projects (AREP).
