Nigeria’s Katsina State is planning a programme of road improvements aimed at boosting transport. A budget of US$179.4 million has been set for the work, which will tackle improvements across 1,378km of the state’s network.

Included in the project will be construction work for 39 of feeder roads in rural areas totalling 461km. Improvement works will be carried out to 18 road sections, with new projects being prioritised by the State Government.

Located in the North of Nigeria, Katsina State borders with neighbouring Niger. Transport between the city of Katsina and Maradi in Niger is highly important for trade between the two nations and the A9 road will require upgrades to deliver the capacity required.
