A series of road and bridge improvement projects will be carried out in Nigeria now that official approval has been awarded. The budget for these works is worth US$316.9 million.

One of the roads being improved is the A2 route connecting the northern city of Kano to Nigeria’s border with neighbouring Niger. This is an important route as it carries international trade between the two nations and runs through the towns of Kazaure, Daura and Maiadua.

The roads connecting Omor with Umulokpa, Oye with Oranto in Anambra State and Enugu State will also be upgraded. Improvements are due too for the Okpokwu Bridge on the Ogoja-Okuku-Aliforkpa-Benue Road, connecting North Nigeria with the city of Calabar in the South East.

Work will be carried out in 10 states in Nigeria in all.
