Financing from China is helping pay for a series of major infrastructure projects in Pakistan. In all US$1.5 billion has been provided in the period from July 2017 to April 2018 for infrastructure development. Of this, $691 million has been directed towards the M5 Highway connecting Multan with Sukkur and $273 million for the highway connecting Thakot with Havelian. Other major infrastructure projects to have benefited from the funding include developing Lahore’s Metro Orange Line and the Neelum Jhelum hydro-electric project.
