Pakistan is planning a series of transport infrastructure projects. The works are worth US$3.6billion and will be managed by the Pakistan Government, forming part of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (Carec) programme.

Included in the programme will be the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Khyber Pass Economic Corridor. New road links will connect with Pakistan’s Gwadar Port. The feasibility study is being planned for a new expressway that will link with Pakistan's border with Afghanistan at Ghulum Khan.
