Pakistan has major plans for infrastructure expansion and development.
Pakistan has set out plans for an ambitious programme of transport infrastructure development works. A budget in excess of US$1.9 billion has been set for infrastructure works, with approval having been secured from Pakistan’s Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
Two key road projects to be carried out under the programme are for the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway and for the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway.
The Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway will be carried out under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. With funding coming from a number of sources including the Pakistan Government and the National Highway Authority (NHA).
The Lahore-Sialkot Motorway is expected to take 36 months to complete and will feature two lanes in either direction, connecting Narang Mandi and Kartarpur.
