2490 XCMG’s new LW800K wheeled loader model is said to be a strong competitor in the 8tonne bucket load class. This size class is important in China and the firm says it has ensured the machine competes strongly against its nearest rivals. Power comes from a QSM11 196 Cummins diesel delivering 250kW which drives through a 2304 ZF transmission to the ZF axles. Smooth shifting is claimed for the transmission while a KD gear system helps lower the gear shift frequency during operation, improving efficiency. Wet plate, oil immersed disc brakes are fitted to the axles and are said to combine low maintenance needs with good stopping power and safer operation, while limited slip differentials help optimise traction in poor underfoot conditions. The LW880K offers a bucket capacity of 4.5m3 and has been designed with a long wheelbase, which is said to optimise stability. Maintenance is said to be easy due to the location of the inspection points while an internal lubrication system is fitted to ensure component longevity. A heavy-duty design ensures long working life, aided by the selection of wear components able to cope with hard and abrasive materials.
