Construction work is now underway in Honduras for the highway connection linking the country with neighbouring Guatemala.
A significant portion of the US$184 million funding required for the CA11 highway upgrade is being provided by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The Corredor de Occidente project is being carried out in three phases and these measure, 36.2km, 46.3km and 36.6km. The work will extend from El Florido, on the border with Guatemala, to La Entrada.
