Croatia has issued a permit for construction of a bridge over the Sava River by Bosanska Gradiska and the border with Bosnia e Herzegovina.
Croatia is working closely with the Bosnian motorways company Autoputevi on the bridge, according to Croatian media reports.
The bridge is likely to cost around €23.5 million as noted by a bid submitted by the consortium made up of Duro Dakovic Montaza, Zagreb Montaza and Integral Inzinjering.

Bosnia road corridor contract
The contract for the first stage of the Corridor 5C project for Bosnia has been signed. This 48km section of Corridor 5 will itself be constructed in four sections and is expected to cost more than €500 million. Funding for these four stages of the Corridor 5 project is being provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), each of which will fund two stages.
Norway’s plan for road development
Norway is pushing ahead with a comprehensive plan of road development. The country’s state-owned contractor, Nye Veier, plans to commence work on a series of road projects during 2019. In all these projects will be worth more than €2.3 billion (NOK 22 billion). The plans call for 52km of highways to be constructed, with the Tvedestrand to Arendal link being the first to be buit.
Colombia highway – financing secured
The complete financing for the Autopista al Mar 1 highway project in Colombia has now been secured. Loans of US$713 million from eight banks, seven of which are international institutions, will pay for the PPP project. Firms involved in the project include the Austrian contractor STRABAG and the Spanish firm Sacyr, as well as the local company CONCLAY. Tendering for new Chile-Argentina tunnel project
The tender process is open for the study into the planned Paso Las Lenas tunnel to connect Chile and Argentina. The study is expected to cost US$1.55 million and will be paid for by Chile’s O’Higgins Region. The tunnel will be some 11.5km long and the portal in Chile will be at an altitude of 2,020m while the entrance on the Argentine side will be at 2,364m, allowing it to be used throughout the year. A new bridge and road connection will be constructed in Cambodia. The bridge will span the Tonle Sap River, and together with the road, this will improve transport connections between Kampong Chhang Province and Kampong Thom Province. Second Tees Valley Viaduct proposed at Middlesbrough
Proposals for a second crossing over the Tees River in northern England have gone out to public consultation, according to media reports.
The Tees Valley Combined Authority, the local authority, said there are two options to take the A19 trunk road over the River Tees at the city of Middlesbrough.
One plan, costing between €235-292 million, would be for a bridge parallel to the existing one where each bridge would traffic in only one directions.
