Volvo graders have made an important contribution on upgrades to a 150km stretch of the NH7 highway, one of India's most important road links. In Australia a would-be car thief was caught by police when he locked himself in the vehicle he was trying to steal. The police responded to a call regarding an attempted car theft in Adelaide and found a 53 year old man trapped inside the vehicle. A second would-be thief was found hiding in nearby bushes.

South Korean capital Seoul is introducing special parking places intended specifically for use by female drivers only. These parking spaces are slightly wider and longer than conventional parking spaces and are also better lit. The spaces are being placed near to elevators, are painted pink and are also highlighted by an emblem resembling a female. A burger lover in the US has turned his motorcycle into a three wheeled tribute to his favourite delicacy. The 53 year old customised his 1987 Harley Davidson Sportster by adding glass fibre components so that it resembles a hamburger and this vehicle is now a well-known local sight in Daytona, Florida where he lives. Local authorities in various parts of the UK are opting to remove punctuation marks from roadsigns so as to remove confusion. The move comes in the wake of numerous complaints from concerned members of the public that roadsigns contain incorrect grammar. A group of rebels in Colombia made a serious error during an attempt to kill a senior member of the country's government. A unit of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) intended to mark the 45th anniversary of the group's formation by killing the politician. A US TV channel is attempting to make car chases and action scenes containing exploding vehicles carbon neutral. Although carbon dioxide is emitted during the pursuit sequences or when vehicles are crashed and blown up, an offsetting process is being introduced. Concern for the environment has been placed as a high priority by the TV company. UK car parking firm NCP has announced plans to pump pleasant aromas into many of its facilities in major cities including London, Birmingham, Leeds and Cardiff. A Brazilian woman was killed in a road accident, by her dead husband's coffin. The incident happened on the way to the man's funeral, a day after he had died from a heart attack at a dance. The hearse the woman was travelling in was hit from the rear by a fast moving Alfa Romeo and the coffin slid forward in the crash, breaking her neck and killing her instantly. The woman's son and the hearse driver suffered only minor injuries in the accident, while the driver of the Alfa Romeo also escaped serious injury

A Portuguese construction contractor has caused dismay amongst archeologists after he dug up some dinosaur bones. The man put the sauropod tail bones, which measure a total 3.6m long, for sale on the Internet causing a flurry of protest from Portuguese palaeontologists. The valuable bones are thought to be from 146-152 million years old. However, the contractor has so far refused an offer of €100,000 from a Portuguese museum and is also refusing to tell palaeontologists where the find was made.
