Hessen will spend around €640 million renovating and expanding six motorway interchanges. According to media reports, around €126 million will go toward construction of new parking areas for trucks. India’s major infrastructure expansion programme is attracting major financing packages, which will help develop its transport networks. A series of infrastructure projects are planned for seven of India’s Northeast states by the Indian Government. In all some US$6.22 billion will be used to improve the region’s transport network according to the plans, with highways, roads and rail link all being built or improved.

The Senegal Government is pushing ahead with its programme of infrastructure expansion. The development of the country’s road transport network is continuing, with Senegal having increased its spending by a factor of 10 in the period from 2005 to 2017. New highways are being built at present and these will join the towns of Mbour, Thiès and Touba to the network by 2018.

German engine maker Deutz reports a strong performance with its interim management statement for the first quarter of 2017 today. New orders rose significantly to reach €403.2 million, a 23.2% increase over the same period in the first three months of last year when orders hit €327.3 million. The Canadian province of Quebec plans to build a US$219 million bridge across the St Lawrence River alongside the existing Mercier Bridge in the city of Montreal. Provincial government cabinet ministers Pierre Moreau and Geoff Kelley confirmed that a new bridge is forthcoming, but gave schedule for procurement or construction start, according to local media. Construction is underway on a key highway link in the UAE. The project is costing close to US$218 million and connects Jumeirah district with the Parallel Roads and Al Khail Road. Proposals are being put forward for a major motorway project in Thailand. Costing an estimated US$1.16 billion, the tender process for the Bang-pa-in-Nakhon Sawan motorway project is expected to commence in 2019. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the project is due to start in due course. Another motorway project planned is for the Hat Yai-Sadao link.
