Siemens claims the use of its technology to enforce London’s congestion charge has been critical to achieving a 20% reduction in traffic and traffic jams being cut by a third in the first 10 years of the charge being in operation. The number of vehicles being driven in London each day is now said by the company to be down by 60,000 compared to 2003. Japanese engine manufacturer Kubota will use Bauma to announce its plan to build another engine plant in Wuxi City, China for the production of vertical-shaft diesel engines. This facility has 18,000 m2 of manufacturing space and will be a fully-owned subsidiary of Kubota China Holdings Co. Production levels will reach 97,000 engines a year and operations start in 2014. Once opened, Kubota will have 6 manufacturing plants around the world for diesel engines.

Among Pilosio’s comprehensive range of formwork solutions on show at bauma will be the Italian firm’s P300 formwork. Rotar will use Bauma to launch a new range of attachments with the new RDC Series shears, the RDP Series pulverisers and the RHB Series hydraulic hammers. A new RG Series grab will also be unveiled for excavators from 2tonnes to 60tonnes. With a tier 4 engine and a completely new cab design, the KX080-4 will join the company’s existing KX-4 series of compact excavators and be at the top end of Kubota’s weight class.
