Disagreement has been voiced in the Dominican Republic over a key highway contract intended to boost connectivity within the country. The Brazilian contractor 1305 Odebrecht won a deal worth US$300 million to build the highway, linking Cibao with the south of the country. However, the Ministry of Public Works has lodged a complaint that the project is too costly and Odebrecht’s contract may be terminated unless a resolution can be found. The 83km road will feature two lanes and will run from Bonao to Ocoa when it is complete.
