Work is underway in the Dominican Republic on a major motorway project.
Widening work is finally commencing to the Duarte Motorway in the Dominican Republic. The project was first mooted back in 2012.
The route will feature seven lanes in either direction when complete, compared with four lanes in either direction at present. The work is costing in excess of US$159 million and is expected to take 10 months to complete.
The project was one of several first announced in 2012 as part of the Dominican Republic's ambitious road improvement programme, which had a budget of $1.9 billion.
