US$397 million for roads in Nigeria’s Enugu State

A budget of US$397 million has been set for roads in Nigeria’s Enugu State.

Nigeria’s Enugu State is to benefit from US$397.4 million being spent on improving the road network. The budget has been approved by the Enugu State Government.

The funding will be used to maintain and upgrade roads around the city of Enugu itself, the state capital. Around 141 roads will benefit from improvement works. In addition, 20 rural roads will be built, boosting connectivity some of the more remote areas of the state.

The road linking Amagunze, Ihuokpara and Ugbawka will benefit from a new bridge. The 41km road linking Abakpa, Opi and Nsukka will become a dual carriageway, boosting its capacity and will also benefit from new bridges.

Meanwhile, the road linking Orie Engine, Aguobu, Umumba and Ebenebe with the Anambra State border will also be improved.
