Funding worth US$1.54 billion is helping to finance a series of infrastructure projects in New Zealand. Some $980 million will help pay for the half-tunnelled 4.8km Waterview Connection. A further $350 million is being used for the widening of a 10km stretch from St Lukes Rd interchange to Lincoln Rd. A portion of the funding is also being used for upgrading the Maioro motorway interchange in New Windsor. The funds will also pay for the $70 million upgrade of Auckland’s Northwestern Motorway beyond Henderson. The funds will pay for completion of the delayed alternative route around the Super City, between Albany and Manukau. The upgrade will provide a bus shoulder and three traffic lanes in each direction to Westgate.

Separate funding worth $315 million was also made by the government to create a motorway-to-motorway connection between State Highway 1 and the 47km long ring route that is due for completion by 2021.
