A lack of sufficient funding is providing a barrier for work on two important highway projects in Romania. One of the highways will connect Bacau and Brasov while the other will connect Lasi with Targu Mures.

The two Romanian routes are supposed to be complete by 2030.

Building the Pascani to Siret stretch of the Lasi to Targu Mures highway is expected to cost €600 million. Building the Miercurea Nirajului to Leghin stretch of the Lasi to Targu Mures highway is expected to cost €1 billion. Construction of the Motca to Ungheni stretch of the Lasi to Targu Mures highway is expected to cost €875 million.

Meanwhile, building the A13 highway between Bacau and Brasov is expected to cost €2.48 billion. Other highway and bridge projects in Romania remain on track.
