Romania’s road development programme is currently well underway, with further works planned.
Contracts for 10 sections of Romania’s Moldova A7 highway project have been awarded. Dorinel Umbrarescu owns three of the contractors that will work on the sections of the A7 Ploiesti-Siret highway. A joint venture comprising Spedition UMB, SA&PE Construct, Tehnostrade is handling the €2.64 billion contract for the section of the highway lining Bacau with Buzau.
Meanwhile, contracts are being awarded for two sections of the A8 highway. A 22km stretch will connect Targu Mures with Miercurea Nirajului and will cost €739.6 million. It will include the construction of 16 bridges.
A 30km section will connect Leghin and Targu Neamt and will cost €510 million. This last section will include building 13 bridges and two viaducts.
