Romania has developed a road improvement plan.
Romania has developed a programme of road improvements. Some €4.5 billion will be spent on upgrading the country’s road transport and highway system under the plan.
The projects will be carried out between 2021 and 2025. Congestion is a key issue on Romania’s road network, which is why the improvement works need to be carried out. A focus will be placed on TEN-T schemes.
Projects being prioritised include work to stretches of the A7, A8, and A3 highways. They also include work to a highway linking Lugoj and Deva, a stretch connecting the A1 highway and the Timisoara Airport. Work to numerous other highway sections are planned, as are sections of smaller roads.
