Papua New Guinea is to benefit from major infrastructure development, which is being funded by Chinese sources. The two countries have signed a series of agreements covering a wide array of infrastructure projects. One of these plans will see US$4.1 billion being spent on improving and upgrading major road links in the country. The road development programme for Papua New Guinea is calling for surfacing of 11 roads, with a total distance of 1,600km.
