India is looking to source funding for a series of highways projects stretching across the country. A target of close to US$8.9 billion has been set by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Further progression of the Bharatmala Pariyojana highway expansion programme is being planned by NHAI. And sourcing external funding for this 2021-2022 road development programme is the aim. However, this will raise NHAI’s debt even further than at present.
