The important Eastern Corridor Road Development Programme for Ghana will benefit from funding being provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB). A loan of US$81.7 million will help pay for the first phase of the works.

This stage of the project includes building two new interchanges at Asikuma Junction and Dufor Adidome. It also includes building sections of road between Asutuare and Aveyime, as well as Dufor Adidome and Asikuma Junction.

The overall aim of the Eastern Corridor Road Development Programme is to improve transport between the capital Accra and the rest of the country. The project will help develop Ghana's economy by encouraging trade and transport.
