The German highway firm Autobahn intends to pay all of the bills it has due by end of June 2021. The firm was established by the German Government to manage the country’s highway network, which extends for some 13,000km. However there have been problems with its internal financial operations that have caused delays in payments to companies carrying out construction work.

Contractors have reported that they have not been paid since the start of 2021. A new system is being set in place and Autobahn says that it will address the issue shortly. Improved software is now being used.
