Germany has now established a state-owned company to manage its Autobahn network. However, there have been delays with regard to the payment of bills by the firm, known as Autobahn.

Construction firms have complained about the issue as they are still waiting for some payments for work that has been carried out. One contractor, Kröger, has now stopped any planned work for Bremen State as it is still waiting to be paid.

Reports as to the value of outstanding payments vary from €600 million up to €1.2 billion.
