Delays are likely for a major Australian road project.
Delays now seem the likely outcome for a major road project for Perth in Western Australia (WA). The construction company Clough working on the project has hit financial problems. The company was working on new links with the Perth Mitchell Freeway.
Clough was working on the project in a joint venture with Acciona and WSP, with work having commenced in the second quarter of 2022. Now that Clough looks out of the picture, its joint venture partners will take over responsibility for the work but delays are likely.
The project is receiving a significant portion of its funding from Australia’s Urban Congestion Fund. The project now looks likely to be completed around 12 months behind schedule and should be ready at the end of 2024.
