The Australian Government is setting out plans for a major investment in transport infrastructure. A budget of over US$35 billion (A$55 billion) has been set for a series of major transport infrastructure projects.

Key road projects planned include the M12 Motorway at a cost of $1.02 billion (A$1.6 billion), $373.2 million (A$586.4 million) for the Bruce Highway  and $191 million (A$300 million) for road improvements in and around the new Western Sydney Airport development in New South Wales (NSW).

Light rail and metro development works are planned for Perth in Western Australia, the link to Western Sydney Airport and in Canberra.
