The contract for the Swinoujscie Road Tunnel in Poland has been awarded to a consortium that comprises the contractors 1324 Astaldi and Ghella. The 1.76km long tunnel will run underneath the Swina River and will connect two islands in the north of the country. The work is expected to cost €219 million. The contract was originally awarded to the consortium made up of Astaldi and Ghella in late 2017, but this was appealed against by other bidders for the project, 3976 Porr and 4921 Toto. However after reviewing the tenders, the Polish authorities opted once more to award the work to Astaldi and Ghella.
