New road and bridge works in Kazakhstan will help improve the country’s transport connections. A 66km ring road is being constructed around Almaty, with the final stretch being built by a consortium called BAKAD Investment and Operation, comprising Turkish and South Korean partners. The work should be complete by 2024.

Meanwhile, another project being proposed is for a new bridge spanning the Irtysh River in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar Region. Works are also proposed to improve the roads linking Leninsky with Irtyshsk, Russkaya and Polyana as well as Baskamys with Razumovka.

The aim of the road improvement programme by the country’s KazAvtoZhol road company will be to ensure 97% of the Republic’s main roads are in suitable condition as well as 93% of local roads by the end of 2022.
