The project for the ring road linking Lima and Callao in Peru now looks likely to be awarded in late 2022. The road will stretch nearly 35km and is expected to cost US$1.97 billion to build.

The road will feature three lanes in either direction and is being designed for vehicle speeds of 80km/h. The project will help reduce traffic congestion in and around Lima, cutting journey times for drivers.

Included in the project will be the construction of 35 overpasses, 17 interchanges and two tunnel stretches. The new route connects the Port of Callao, Jorge Chávez Airport and several key highways in the area around Lima. The ring road is being built in three main phases.
