Two major highway projects are now commencing in China. One of the projects is for the Wuhan stretch of the Wuhan-Songzi highway. The other project is for the Chongqing-Liangjiang New Area highway.

Construction of the Wuhan-Songzi route is expected to cost US$503.6 million. The project is being managed by the Hubei Traffic and Transportation Department and is due to open to traffic in 2024.

Meanwhile, the Chongqing-Liangjiang highway project in Wulong District will take four years to build. The project is expected to cost $1.03 billion and involves building a 37.2km stretch of highway featuring two lanes in either direction, which is being designed for vehicles speeds of up to 100km/h.
