A new tunnel project is being proposed for Indonesia’s new capital. The aim of the tolled road tunnel would be to provide a reliable transport connection underneath the swamp that encircles the new capital city.
The new capital is being built in East Kalimantan. The project for Indonesia's new tunnel is being put forward by the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry. The tunnel will provide a connection between Balikpapan and the Samarinda Highway. Design work is now being carried out for the link.
