An Indian road contractor will carry out a major road project in Guyana. The package of works is worth US$106.4 million and will be handled by Ashoka Buildcon.

The contract is for the East Bank-East Coast Road Linkage Project and was awarded by the Guyana Government. This will run across Guyana’s capital, Georgetown, and connect Ogle, Haags Bosch and Eccles. The project will improve transport to and from the Eugene F Correia International Airport in the city, Guyana's second largest airport.

The project is one of several awarded by the Ministry of Public Works and forms part of a wider plan to develop Guyana’s transport infrastructure.
