Chile is drawing up plans for a major programme of infrastructure development works. The projects are being managed by the Ministry of Works, which has set a budget of US$4.86 billion for 2023.

The total package of works has a value of $13.3 billion and runs until 2026, encompassing a total of 52 separate projects. The biggest single project is for the highway connecting capital Santiago with the coastal town of Los Vilos at a cost of $718 million. The 24km Orbital Sur de Santiago bypass route is another of the major projects and comes with a $469 million pricetag.
