A major Chilean highway project has received approval.
Approval has been given for the AVO II highway project in Chile. The urban highway is intended to help reduce traffic congestion as well as pollution in Chile’s capital, Santiago.
The approval has been given by COEVI, the environmental commission of Chile's metropolitan region. The AVO II highway project is for a 5.2km road section connecting the areas of La Reina, Macul, Nunoa, and Penalolen.
A series of measures will be taken to mitigate the environmental impact of the highway project, which had been the focus for some concern by locals.
