A new road planned in Honduras will connect San Pedro Sula with Puerto Cortes. The project cost has been estimated at US$150 million. Plans also include additional works to help reduce congestion in San Pedro Sula. Coalianza is the agency in Honduras that handles the promotion of public-private partnerships (PPPs) and has said that the tender process is due to commence in October 2014.

Climbing costs are afflicting the construction of the key Coatzacoalcos tunnel connection in Mexico. The Philippines is setting major targets for road development in coming years. A planned budget of US$2.59 billion has been set for infrastructure in the city of Luzon for 2015. And the Department of Public Works and Highways plans to pave some 32,227km of the country's national roads by 2016, with only 83% so far having been paved. A new four lane highway is planned in Vietnam, linking the city of Da Nang and Thua Thien-Hue Province. This 77km highway is due for completion by 2016. Plans are in hand in Macedonia for the new highway that will run from Bar to the Serbian border. The Russian Government is looking at options with regard to doubling its road construction programme by 2023. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, previously made a decree of doubling the road construction programme with a view to improving and increasing the country’s transport links. To achieve the target set by the president the country will have to build an additional 780km of federal highways and 2,940km of regional roads.
