Enhanced vehicle intelligence is just around the corner, according to 2253 Bosch Rexroth. The company revealed its Genius Cab concept to the North American market at CONEXPO-CON/AGG.

The project brought together a network of suppliers including Bosch, the Technische Universität Dresden, and VDBUM, the German association for construction, environmental, and machine technology, to demonstrate to manufacturers the untapped potential and benefits of system integration.

“The Bosch portfolio addresses a variety of needs with systems that make for a safer and more productive construction site,” said Andrew Allen, head of the construction business for Bosch’s commercial vehicle & off-road unit. “We offer specific technology solutions for the industry and the Bosch IoT cloud provides an even deeper level of integration and flexibility for continuous improvement.”

Concepts within the Genius Cab include a central intelligence body computer; an intelligent direct windscreen wiper drive that can adjust effortlessly to current weather conditions; and side-view mirror replacement displays to give operators a digital look over their shoulders.

It is all part of Bosch Rexroth’s future vision of connected solutions for construction, which could soon see components get their own IP addresses to send and receive vehicle information between components.
