The authorities in Senegal have awarded a US$ 142.6 million package of works to Spanish contractor Isolux. The work involves construction of two stretches of the RN6 highway measuring some 194.5km in total. Also included in the deal is work to the new bridge at Kolda. The project will involve widening, improvement and modification works to the highway. The areas where work will be carried out lie between the Casamance River and the border with Guinea Bissau and in the towns of Kolda and Ziguinchor.

The UK’s Highways Agency is telling drivers to take extra care and to stick speed limits at roadworks, to prevent deaths and injuries among both road users and road workers. India's Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved four road projects worth a combined US$850.75 million (INR 46.20bn) in Assam and Madhya Pradesh. The projects involve the widening of stretches of National Highways 37 (NH 37) under the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for India’s North Eastern Region (SARDP-NE).

Polish road authority GDDKiA has signed a contract with a consortium of Salini Polska, Przedsibiorstwo Budowy Drógi Mostów Kobylarnia and Impreglio for completing two sections of the A1 motorway. The combined value of two sections (Brzezie- Kowal and Czerniewice-Brzezie) stands at over €238.24 million (PLN 1bn). The works are due to start in the second quarter of 2013, with the completion expected to take 11 months on the Czerniewice-Brzezie section, and a year on the Kowal-Brzezie stretch.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to grant Tajikistan US$100 million towards reconstruction of the highway Penjikent - Aini – the Uzbekistan border. The total project is valued at $136 million. Tajikistan's government will provide US$22 million. In addition, OPEC will give a 20-year $14 million loan with a 2.5% interest rate.
