French highway contracts are to be renewed in coming years.
The contracts for many of the earlier highway routes in France will be expiring in the 2031-2036 period. These routes date from the 1950s to the early 1970s and the various deals will have to be renegotiated. A new reported provided to France’s Finance Committee has proposed upgrading the rules and time periods for any new highway concessions.
An estimated 90% of the highway network presently handled under a concessionary basis will be subject to change with the contracts due for renegotiation during the 2031-2036 period.
