Chile authorities present US$ 740mn project for Chacao bridge

Chile public authorities have presented an amended version of the Chacao bridge project, that will link Chiloe island with the mainland. Works for the 2.6km bridge will be assigned through a public competition and will cost up to US$ 740million, over US$ 200million less that the initial project presented by Puente Chiloe. The tender will be launched by the end of 2012 and should be assigned in 2013. The project is due for completion by 2019.

Chile bridge design unveiled

The final design of Chile’s Chacao Bridge has now been revealed. This project is expected to cost in the order of US$700 million. The initial design was unveiled in 2015 but was then subject to a number of modifications to better meet requirements. Spanish firms interested in US$740mn Chile bridge project

Spanish companies Sacyr, ACS and OHL will take part in three of the consortia that will bid in the US$740 million contract to build the longest suspension bridge in Chile. Works for the 2.5km Chacao Bridge, connecting the island of Chiloe and Chile's coast line, are expected to be awarded during the first quarter of 2014, with construction due to begin in 2015.
