Chile’s Chacao bridge project generates just one consortium technical bid

Only one consortium has submitted a technical bid in the tender for a project to build the Chacao bridge in Chile. The bridge will link Chiloe island with Chile’s mainland Los Lagos region. Only one consortium has submitted a technical bid in the tender for a project to build the Chacao bridge in Chile.

The bridge will link Chiloe island with Chile’s mainland Los Lagos region. The 968 Chilean Government has earmarked a maximum project budget of US$740 million.

The consortium that has submitted the technical bid, which would see the construction of a four-lane bridge, is made up of 236 Hyundai of South Korea, 5549 Systra of France, Brazilian company OAS and Aas-Jakobsen of Norway. The consortium has also submitted ITS economic offer, which will be announced during the first week of December 2013. A final decision will be announced in the first quarter of 2014, with construction works due to begin in 2015 and reach completion in 2019.

Chile choses Chacao Chiloe crossing consortium

The Chilean authorities have awarded the project to build the Chacao crossing to a consortium comprising OAS, Hyundai, Systra and Aas-Jakobsen. The winning bid was for US$680.4 million. Strong interest from a wide array of contractors has been shown in the project to construct the Chacao Bridge in Chile. Chile’s Chacao Bridge under construction

Construction work on Chile’s Chacao Bridge project is now underway. The 2.75km suspension bridge will connect the Chilean mainland with Chiloe Island. The bridge structure has been designed to flex so that It can cope with severe earthquakes, which present a risk in the area.
