Road works are planned for Tanzanian islands.
Major road refurbishment works will be carried out for Tanzania’s Pemba Island and Unguja Island. The work is worth US$252 million and will be carried out by contractors MECCO and Propav Infrastructures.
Three roads will be improved. The 12km road connecting Kisaauni and Fumba will be upgraded and is of key importance as it will help the tourist trade by improving transport from Zanzibar’s International Airport on Unguja Island. The 48km road from Tunguu to Makunduchi on Unguja Island will also be upgraded. Work is also planned for the 43.5km route linking Chakechake and Mkoani on Pemba Island.
