Road maintenance works worth €253 million have been awarded in the UK while maintenance works worth €172 million are opening for tender in Spain.
In the UK Kier Transportation won a package of works for highways maintenance services from Somerset County Council. The firm will take over highways maintenance works from Milestone Infrastructure at the end of March 2024. The company will handle a network of 6,675km for an eight year period.
Bidding for six maintenance and operation contracts is opening for road links in Albacete, Salamanca, Soria, Valencia, Castellon and Madrid. The packages cover 1,030km of roads in total. The bidding has been authorised by the Spanish Council of Ministers. Five of the road maintenance packages will be for three years with possible extensions of up to two years, while one is for two years, with a possible extension of up to three years.
