Contractor Colas has been awarded a package of works in the UK worth £328 million by National Highways. The deal will be for routine maintenance and repairs for roads in the West Midlands Area 9 highways region.
The contract is for an eight-year period and covers the Strategic Road Network in the counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
The firm will also respond to emergency incidents and severe weather conditions under the terms of the deal. The region includes the busy M6, M42 and M54 motorways and the contract is due to commence in July 2022.
The deal will cover a total lane length of around 3,760km of motorway and trunk roads. Kier was awarded a three-year contract for the area in 2018, which will come to an end in mid-2022.
