The tender process is underway for a 4km expressway project in Phuket, Thailand. The project is expected to be worth US$421 million and will link Kathu with Patong.

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is handling the tender process, which will close in March 2023 and the project will be managed under the PPP model. The concession package will include design, construction and operation for a 35-year period. Construction should commence in 2024 and be complete by 2027 if the planned schedule is adhered to.

The new road link will feature twin lanes for powered two wheelers in either direction as well as twin lanes for cars, vans and trucks in either direction. A big factor in the cost of the project will be the 1.85km tunnel stretch.
